Anyone know where the awning stick might be located on a 94 U300. Before I buy something I just wanted to make sure there isn't a super secret storage spot for it. Thanks!
We can't talk about it.
It's classified.....
Usually kept in one of the storage bays.
Look under the joey. Mine was there when we picked ours up at MOT.
Yesterday was sad/glad.
I was glad that there was never a big awning fitted to our coach, I have a number of reasons but yesterday was confirmation. I sat and watched as the awning on a Trek front motor unfurled like a sail, stood up vertical and the came apart, frame and all.
The winds in the west have are constant and brutal.
And people laugh at me for using tyraps to extra secure those sails. Yes it blows out here 80+ mph gusts last week

My rule is that the big awning is out ONLY if all of the following conditions are true: I am home; I am awake; winds are less than 20 mph peak; the sun is shining. Even then I had the awning misbehave once. We were at our winter base in New Mexico when a sudden gust of wind came up and pushed the front end up. A couple of neighbors immediately came over and helped be get it stowed. That did break a hook, so we were unable to use the awning for a bit until a new hook arrived.
I mounted a couple of hooks in the small bay just aft of the door and the awning stick sits there. The tire gauge also hangs from one of the hooks.
And for anyone with a Electric Girard awning, don't rely on the automatic retract wind gauge to safely stow the awning... fabric starts flapping and it rolls up all kinds of crooked, causing a whole different set of issues... ask me how I know this. 🤣
When I read these posts I remember a time when it wasn't wind but rain that damaged our Zip Dee patio awning, along with a bit of poor design on Zip Dee's part.
We were camped at a Nat'l CG south of Waverly, TX and I had the awning closed up to the "caravan" position. For those who don't know, this is when the awning is only unfurled about 2'.
Rain (maybe I should say dumped) poured so hard that the awning fabric cradles and the little #10-32 bolt that holds the rear awning roll axle in the pewter casting broke off. Maybe being about 25 years old it was worn almost thru. Anyway, the long lower rafter arm slammed down onto the concrete and broke the pewter casting. Ordered a new pewter casting from Zip Dee and had it within three days.
The service tech at ZD said they no longer made my style but he managed to come up with one that would work, with a couple slight mods. So I got everything back together, including the fabric where it goes into the awning cover.
I didn't have a #10-32 bolt & nut so I used a 3/16 dia spring pin. It is still there.
Later on we were at Crane's Mill CG at Canyon Lake, on our return route to WI, and I went to open the awning and the front end #10-32 bolt & nut fell out in to my hand!! So, another 3/1" spring pin.
I no longer trust the little #10-32 bolts of any grade.
We keep our awning stick in the propane lifting eyes in the fuel bay.
It doesn't lock.
