Had the shop come out this morning to read codes in the ECM. The indication is failing ECM, "internal failure" along with others.
Has anyone had the ECM fail on their 8.3 ISC ?
If so can I get an idea of the cost?
Bruce,
Before you go and buy a new one check and see if ECM king can rebuild it. Good people that will not mislead you. Talk to Jeff or Frank as they own/run the place and are very knowledgeable. A few of the members here have used them.

...and everything in between.
There are a ton of "Rebuilder" they actually are only reflashing the ECMs. My. Replacement lifetime warranty ECM for my ISM has 870,000 miles on. It with a average fuel economy of 4 mpg. I really wish I had a zero since new and have considered purchasing one. Chinese Cummins. Price went up $500 couple months ago. $1700
Programmed Control Module ECM ECU 3408501 Cummins Engine Parts QSM11... (https://www.ebay.com/itm/203538799120)
Times two for ECM King. They do a fine job referbing the ECM. Call them and see what you think. Works great for me.
Called them, they can't do these for an Isc.
So new ECM, 2225.00, program 674.00, install couple of hours or so. Wave bye to 3700 or so coach bucks, crazy money. But when you are stuck what can you say.
Give these guys a call...got a reman ECM from them for my ISB years ago: Auto Computer Exchange Buy Reman ECM, Reman PCM, Reman TCM Online (http://www.autocomputerexchange.net)
Thanks Keith, but it's a done deal brand new shiney Cummins part. Lots of places do ISBs but the old ISCs are another deal all together. And I really need to get moving. Should be running by Friday pm hopefully.
