My last two trips were around 2000 and 1200 miles round trips Orlando, Hilton Head from Baltimore respectively. Before leaving for Orlando doing the pre flight check out my coach would stop running due to air leaking into fuel lines. Turns out culprit was the prefilter. The plastic at the intake and outlet ports were warped and instead of being round were elongated. Put new one on before leaving ordered 2 spares to be delivered to destination. No problems. After returning from second trip getting ready for short run to Gettysburg and air in fuel lines at pre flight again. First thing I checked was pre filter and guess what ports were slightly misshapen again. Not as bad as last time, is this common if so why? Is fuel so hot that it causes this or is it engine heat. Both times the damage was most pronounced at intake ( Top port). I like the primer feature and being able to see the prefilter as I have an algae problem I can't seem to cure. Any solutions or suggestions?
Fuel coming from the tank is not that hot. No reason for a round object to get elongated in a round hole. Is the part that the top of the filter goes in bent? I have over 130,000 mi. and the same filter with no problems. Maybe a random problem that other members have had and caused them to put in the newer systems that still have the purge feature.
Strange, our coach has over120,000 miles on that same filter system and have had no issues with it.
I had that problem in a Monaco when the muffler broke so you are getting too much
heat from somewhere.
