The "pin" connecting my slack adjuster to the brake canister somehow came out. So I'm wondering / hopefull that i can just adjust the slack adjuster to the point of reconnecting to the air brake canister and let the automatic part of an "automatic slack adjuster" take over.
My rear brakes were serviced last summer and seem to be working fine except for the fact that while greasing things i had discovered that pin missing. I did have to release the paul on the adjuster and back it off some because it had worked its way to far out.
If it does need professional adjustment i will take it somewhere to get that done but.... I'm hopeful that it automatically adjusts itself. Need help from the brake pros out there.
You should wind the slack adjuster back up to 7/8 of and inch and the let the automatic take
over.
Thanks Pete.
So you mean the free stroke travel ? I'll try that.
Run your slack adjuster down tight, then back off one half turn, that will give you the proper stroke.
