Yesterday the synchronization cylinder in the bay with the hydraulic pump began leaking severely when we move the slide in or out. It leaks from the end of the cylinder, around the shaft. HWH says it may be 2 to 3 weeks before they can call back about a replacement and Foretravel says it is unlikely they have one ( I haven't been able to read the number so far). For anyone who may have had this problem before, I have a couple questions.
— Is there any other source for a cylinder besides HWH and Foretravel?
— How difficult is a rebuild? Can most hydraulic shops do it, or could I find parts and do it?
— If I can't replace or rebuild soon, will it hurt the system if I use it with it leaking, as long as I contain the leaking fluid?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are in the Upper a peninsula of Michigan now, where finding repair shops is probably difficult. We live in 5he coach full time, so somehow have to find a way to fix it, live with the leak, or live without the slide.
MOT had one on hand when I bought my coach and needed it replaced. If you're going to continue using it I suggest covering or pulling up the carpet in your storage bay. Once the ATF gets into it, the smell is very hard to get out. The same goes for when you rebuild/replace... it's under pressure and that stuff will spray out.

I had this problem and did some major damage when the the locking pins extended and missed the hole. If you do decide or need to extend/retract the room, HWH recommended that before retracting, I should hold the extend button down for about 5 seconds to make sure the slide was fully extended and sync'ed before retracting. Less important on the extend cycle because the pins are pulling in but I would still do it. On extend, first hit the retract button for 5 seconds and then extend. As I understand it, this fully charges the sync cylinder before operation.

Thanks for the warning. I don't think my coach has locking pins, but I am checking to be sure.
