Title: Front seat troubles
Post by: Farrarkc on August 10, 2022, 08:36:59 am
Good morning,

I am hoping to get some insight before removing my passenger seat.  I have been finding bearings on the floor and the seat is rocking due to that. In addition, the front reclining feature has never worked. Kinda not worked, my 5 year old seemed to find a way to get the recliner to pop out 3 inches on this last trip and now I can not get it to go back in.

Is there a simple swivel plate that can be replaced? I searched the forum knowing I had seen the recliner motor problem before but I was unable to find anything.

talk soon,

To take the play out of the seat, tighten the nut under the center bottom of the seat.  Too tight and the seat won't rotate.  Too loose and you will have that "wobble".

Even if I am finding bearings on the floor?

If you are finding ball bearings then the retaining ring has most likely went kaput and you will need to replace the lazy susan turn table. If the seat has a big wabble it is where you are missing bearings, yes you can tighten up the base nut but you will end up metal to metal making it hard to swivel.

First, I would try to replace the ball bearings and see if you can get it stabilized.  Nothing special about the bearings-- likely if race/base is not too worn, a good hardware store should be able to supply additional ball bearings.
