I rebuilt my original Thetford toilet . I was really impressed with the genuine rebuild parts and instructions from Thetford!
The engineering is simple yet impressive. The sliding door has little ramps to make firm contact with the seal to avoid leaks.
Now my question is to just use parting wax on the plastic surfaces or add some rainex to it??
Simple things ,I guess that I'm really simple .
Rainex? That thought has never crossed my mind. Do people use that in toilets?
I put a new lower mechanism on mine as well and am real happy with it. I don't recall using wax or anything else.
The original lower mechanism lasted about 35 years.
As I cleaned it , it became clear that the plastic was dry and starting to yellow . I scuffed the lid and rubbed it with compound, finished with parting wax. Where do you stop? Rubbed and waxed the entire unit. Looks better, smells great. Yeah I have issues.
