Title: Bad New Part- Air Tank Sender
Post by: FtRoadTrip on August 30, 2022, 04:03:28 pm
Greetings.

I just got done changing out the air pressure sender on the rear air tank.

The rear tank was showing zero so I swapped the wiring and between the rear and front tank senders.  The tank pressure moved to the alternate gauge telling me that everything was good except the rear tank sender.

Installed the new sender using a 1/2" wrench (without using the housing to spin it on to the tank) and it did not work.  Still reading zero.

I decided to remove the existing "good" sender and swap it with the new "assumed new-bad sender".  The old "good" sender now works fine on the rear tank.  The new sender shows zero on the front tank.

I ordered another sender today- plus an extra to put into inventory.  Part #SWW-82894.

Please let me know if I am missing something.  Thanks.

So when I replaced mine one of the new senders failed. Was under warranted . I swapped in the one we has removed as serviceable and completed trip . A month later when the new one finally arrived the old one i swapped in failed .new replacement has worked fine since.
These are going. To end up being issues for everyone since Stewart gauges no longer support the rest of the system. Still been in contact with. One Gauge to replace everything with a glass dash.

Thanks Scott.

If I can help make some noise with you over at One Gauge please give me the contact info.  I would be happy to make a call, email, etc. to help demonstrate the market demand.

I will post my results in a couple of days.

Just because something is new doesn't mean it's any good. One day a foreman asked me to
help the apprentice out. He had replaced the alternator and it still wasn't working. He said to
me that he did a trouble shoot and said it looks like the alternator was no good but it is band
new. I checked it out and told him your only trouble is your didn't trust yourself. Go get another
alternator.

Reminds me of the time I rewired an antique chandelier for one of my wife's friends.

There I was-  Pulling all the new fixture wire through to new sockets, all very tedious.  There were probably 30 lamps in all.  The best part was that they insisted on having a glass of wine and being an audience while I did the work.

When I finished I asked for the lamps.  My wife's friend had been to light fixture store and they were ready to install.

I put the first lamp in and turned the fixture on to admire it.  No light.  I took that lamp and moved it to the next socket, nothing.  They had a look of worry on their faces.

After one more socket I asked for another lamp.  Of course- it worked great.  The first lamp was the only bad one.

Here I go again I guess.

We are planning on more work on it in November when I'm back home. The weak link here is me. Trying to finish up bronco before we go on vacation. I also think the senders had a one or two year warranty also. I had ordered thru Summit Racing and they were real good about taking care of it.

Nearly 50 years ago I moved from Lincoln, NE to Potter, WI. I rented a truck that had only about 7000 miles on it. I got only a few miles down the highway when it quit. Turned out that the alternator wasn't charging the battery. New alternator put in, and it wasn't charging, either. Second alternator worked. Then they found out that the gauge wasn't hooked up. No wonder I didn't know there was a problem.

For the purposes of providing resolution to this repair issue-

The original "new" sender was in fact defective.

I ordered and installed a second "new" sender and it works great.

The buzzer was driving me crazy.

Thanks all.
