Title: Water heater location 1991 Foretravel ORED GV 36 VIN 4CDN6BK2XM2900931
Post by: Captain Mike Build # 4027 on August 31, 2022, 03:52:56 pm
Hello fellow rv's  I'm still working through some issues on this old girl but the windshields are back in so there is progress.  I pressured the hose supplying water to the faucets but only had marginal water pressure on the cold side and no hot water (where is the water heater?)  I think the fresh water lines have burst due to previous owner not flushing the water out before winter as I see lots of water leaking out from under the bus.  Any suggestion of where to find the water line diagram and how to access the hoses to see where this water is coming from.
Thanks in advance
Captain MIKE

Look outside for the heater cover and that will give you a good idea as to inside location, usually down underneath the sink.
As to the water leaks, start at the tank filler underneath the couch and move towards the water heater. More than likely it's the copper pipe around the water heater that's split certainly was the problem with mine.
It's hard to diagnose all your problems until you fix or locate a few things.

Maybe refrain from posting your VIN#

Thank you very much fo the reply Olde English.  I will continue the search with your advice...I see an expansion tank under the couch and found the heater behind the wiring panel on exterior of rv.  What is the concern with posting a VIN?

Your hot water heater, being propane fired, requires an exhaust vent to the outside of the coach.  Same with your propane furnace.

Look for the water heater access panel that includes a small wire-covered rectangular exhaust vent.

Photo below of a U240 showing both types of vents.

Unnecessary.  Your coach VIN has no significance when discussing your coach on this Forum.  I suppose some nefarious person could "steal" your VIN and somehow use it for an illegal purpose.  Being a law abiding citizen, I know nothing about that.

The number you should use to identify your coach is the "Build Number".  This sequential number was assigned to your coach on the factory assembly line.  It is a very important number to know anytime you call the factory to discuss your coach, ask a question, or buy parts.  It is helpful to include it in your Forum signature because it precisely locates your coach in the model production timeline.

Look for a metal ID plate inside your coach.  Often located on the interior wall next to the driver seat.  Your build number is composed of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th digits in the model number.
