Title: Changing Coolant--Aquahot Loop?
Post by: OldScout on August 31, 2022, 05:12:08 pm
Planning on switching to OAT coolant in my 2015 IH45, need to flush engine, and the dash heat and Aqua-hot loops.  So, does engine coolant continuous circulate thru Aqua-hot loop whenever the Cummins engine running?

Yes Sir, anytime the main engine is moving its coolant it is being circulated to the heater inless it has been valved off.  I have not heard of Foretravel installing the valves needed to do that.  So, you are good to go.

Rudy, any idea how much engine coolant should be in a 100 unit?  When I had to cut out the elbow on the coolant loop, I collected about 3 gallons after pinching off the two coolant lines to the unit.  Does that sound right?

I've run the unit, the engine pre-heat pump and even driven the coach enough to get it to cycle the thermostat and so far it has not wanted that 3 gallons back yet.  Reservoir is still where it should be.  Seems odd.

I do not know the capacity of the engine loop.
