Title: Flashing red light
Post by: chasmatt on September 18, 2022, 01:09:20 am
We have had our 2003 U320 for almost 3 months now, and have almost figured out all of the switches and little unknown features. Except one - there is a small red lamp(maybe a led) on the front of the coach under the mirror. I cannot figure out why that lamp is flashing. It flashes very slowly - maybe a one second rate. Does anyone else have a  similar installation? What controls it?

I don't have that, but I think if it is anything it might an "anti-teft device" of some sort. Might be some sort of aftermarket device.

Have you looked in your owners manual binder/packet to see if there is a brochure of some sort that mentions it.

Guarantee you that there probably is someone on here and they will tell you all about it

I wondered if that might be a theft thing, but I could not find anything in the owners manual or the other information they left in the coach. This might end being another great mystery of life.

It's for your alarm system. Wouldn't call it an anti theft system because if someone wants to steal it they will,

Yep, factory installed security system with remote control door locks. My coach even had glass breakage sensors and motion sensors. Replaced all with a system just for the remote door latch actuators.
Original system obsolete as the company that made it (Hawk) is out of business.

I would be concerned that if for some reason it was tripped
A. You couldn't turn it off
B. You could get locked out?
I thought the blinking light meant it was armed
I too need to entirely remove the old system and update. No clue on brand to replace with.

If you remove the kick panel just in front of the passenger's seat you can look in there and find the control module along with a lot of the breakers and relays that you will need to know where they are some day.

I replaced my Hawk model with and after-market model.  It came with a flashing red LED to tell you the doors are locked.  No alarm function.
