Title: Generator won't start , simple fix
Post by: Sven and Kristi on September 22, 2022, 09:49:09 am
On first day of traveling from San Diego to Durango, the heat overwhelmed the dash air.  Tried starting the generator while underway and nothing happened, just red fault light on dash.  At rest stop, I opened gen. compartment and there was nothing going on.  Won't start, won't even try; obviously an electrical problem.  At an RV park in Gila Bend I finally had time to look at it.  No breakers popped.  I pulled 10A fuse and it looked good.  I wiped it off and put it back in and immediately the pre-heat came on and gen started.  I wish all my FT problems were this easy.  In the the future, I will take out my fuses and wipe them off as part of my pre-trip checks.

Sven,

Thanks for the post.  Just one question, where is this 10 amp located?

But, will the generator start in the morning after sleeping all night?

My generator did the same thing. What happens when you pull the fuse it resets the start cycle and it starts. If you pull the top cover off where the fuses are more than likely you have a wire almost broke but still able to get a signal until the next bump. I started lightly pulling on wires and one pulled in to easily. That was my problem,  fixed wire no more issues.

Just for information where is the 10 AM fuse that you cleaned and replaced?

This is just a friendly reminder to "Ohm out" a suspect fuse.
This fuse is open.
Totally.
