Title: Power Tech Generator Support
Post by: wolfe10 on November 08, 2022, 01:10:18 pm
Had a delightful conversation this morning with Jeff Jones at Power Tech.

He asked that I post both his work number and cell phone number for anyone needing assistance with a Power Tech generator:

Office: 352 435-4416
Cell: 352 267-0822

BTW, Jeff said he will be at the upcoming Foretravel event in Webster Florida. Discussed here: FORETRAVEL MOTORCADE CLUB Florida Chapter (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=45384.0)

He is a nice young man to talk to and he understands what he's saying as well.

Are there any know issue to look out for with the Power Tech gen sets in our coaches? This is the first coach I've had with this make of generator. So far no issues for me, just curious. Also, I apologize if this should be it's own post.

I've dealt with Jeff and he is really helpful and he knows the generator.

Noah;  first thing is don't let it sit!  Just like all diesel engines, they are made to run.  I am going on 4k hours on our now and is running fine.  Most everyone can change the oil, fuel and air filters on these powertech units!  Never be afraid of hours and miles, they are your friend.

Thank you Brett,  It's great to see someone willing to offer up their phone number to help support their product.

End bearing time change and if you ever happen to change the voltage regulator contact Jeff to walk you threw the updated wiring requirements. It does not reinstall as the old one was removed. Ive even put a placard on the front of the generator panel to remind me or future owner (no one lives forever)

I'd be interested to know what is most hours the members here have seen on a power tech.

Our power tech has only about 2700, I've read where several on the forum have well upwards of 4000 hours.
Would like to know myself if anyone has over 10,000

Something that I stumbled onto when having my Centramatics Wheel Balancers installed in Alvarado, Texas at the Centramatics manufacturing facility, they rebuild the genset diesel motors there, Kubota, Isuzu, and Perkins and asked what are some of the higher hour engines that come in for overhaul the mechanic said 10K to 12K hours was where they seem to come in for overhaul and mainly more so for bad front and rear main oil seals, from bad engine mounts and generator mounts. shaking things apart. I just found it strange to see all the 3 and 4 cylinder diesel motor there.
