Title: No power to LNB Dish Trav'ler
Post by: AC7880 on November 13, 2022, 05:35:43 pm
On the control box for the Dish Travler (where you deploy and stow the Dish Trav'ler), message came up: No power to LNB, and it then stowed itself.

Tried several times, it did deploy once.  But signal was coming and going on the TV.

Did some research on line, usual cause is the cabling from the turret to the LNB(s). The cable is a Winegaurd, 4 foot, shielded, 3 small cables in the shielding to the 3 LNBs.

Pulled the cable, my coax tone generator is not toning out on any of the three.  Cut up one one of my spare coax cables into three 4' foot lengths with new cable ends.  Installed on the dish turret to LNBs, all is working again.

My coax crimper is not very good, so the ends are not well done, and not weather resistant.  Ordered this from Amazon: Amazon.com: 3 Pack of 4ft Black 3X Shields Weather Seal Indoor Outdoor RG-6... (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MDT3XX9?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)

The winegaurd site has the shielded correct cable for $54, but their on line order system to buy is inop.  I may eventually order the correct cable by calling them (it's the weekend right now, and a hassle to order to the area we are currently in with no cell voice reception).

Correct Wineguard cable:
DISH/Bell HD TRAV'LER Replacement Cable
Model: RP-SK41
Price: $53.79

DISH HYBRID HD TRAV'LER | Satellite-tv Product Support | Winegard Company (https://archive.winegard.com/support/category/satellite-tv/dish-bell-tv-hd-travler)  May have to click on replacement parts to view it.

Info on the cable replacement is under support at: DISH HYBRID HD TRAV'LER | Satellite-tv Product Support | Winegard Company (https://archive.winegard.com/support/category/satellite-tv/dish-bell-tv-hd-travler)

If your turret to LNB cables are original, might want to source a spare set to have on board.

I had a couple wires short out by the gears in the arm. Satellite would do weird things. I opened that part up, repaired the wires and moved them out of the gears way
