Title: HWH 660 Series - No Power without Ignition magically solved
Post by: Elliott on November 17, 2022, 02:51:45 pm
Ever since I have owned my coach, I have not had any lights on the HWH control panel unless my ignition was on. I have troubleshooted it A LOT and scrutinized every connection and every fuse in the control box. Including with the help of an HWH tech over the phone and I even took it to HWH and had Lon look at it. I was told that some coaches just don't light up without ignition and I chalked it up to kind of being a transition year for FT. Whatever, not really a big deal because my bags hold air for months now (after A LOT of work) and I'm yet to stay anywhere long enough to need to relevel.

I was going through my pre-flight checks today and LOW AND BEHOLD I have power at the control panel with the ignition off. After two years it just started working! I have done NOTHING recently that I can think of that would affect this. The only new things even loosely related are A) I left my engine heater on last night and B) I left the coach in full "raise" mode because I was working under it earlier this week. I can think of no reason either of those would be relevant.

Anyone seen or heard of this before?

P.S. There have been a couple threads where I regurgitated the false notion that not all control panels light up with ignition off so please help correct that if you see it perpetuating.

Elliott;  I guess things do fix themselves once in awhile!  Go figure.  When I use the manual level set up my level light stays lit with ignition off.  When I use self leveling, it does not!  Haven't figured that one out yet!!  Glad yours started working again!

Mine is dark and unresponsive with the ignition off unless it wakes up to self-level.

I also noticed if I want to raise my coach I have to turn on the ignition and if I push the raise
button I can turn off the key and it will now function.

Don't get too excited. It may not work that way when the coach wakes up in the morning.

So my dash lights and dingers are all of a sudden working better than ever too. Prior to today, they periodically showed signs of a loose ground. I am constantly working on my coach so I can't keep the exact timeline of changes straight but I'm wondering if this resolved other issues without me knowing:

The question is: Do you have an Electrician Elf or a Voodoo Elf?
