Driving from South Carolina to Wythville VA to day in the 1995 U320C SE we just bought. We stopped at a rest area and the transmission temperature warning signal came on when we stopped. Temp was at 150. Got on the highway again and the warning bell went off and on intermittently when we were driving.
We are stopped at a loves truck stop right now and Bob is checking the fluids.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Susan
If the oil level is good and the temp gauge continues to read cool I suspect the audible alarm to be at fault.
Have you been using the transmission retarder? On our 1995 U320C SE the transmission temperature gauge and trans temp warning light (we don't have any audible alarm) seem to read the retarder output temperature and not the trans sump temperature and will shoot very high very quickly even though the VMSpc shows a much-more stable trans sump temperature. The warning light will tend to come on and stay on frequently even though the trans sump temperature is at a normal temperature. You may have only a sensor issue.
