Title: key fob
Post by: 18360 on December 03, 2022, 07:39:10 pm
A year or two ago my key fob stopped working.  I got a new battery but that didn't correct it.  When I press the switch to the left of the driver's seat it locks all of the doors so that part is working.  But not the fob.
    Any ideas.

Thanks

It could be the key fob or it could be the receiver. My receiver is an alarm and I don't know if
that is OEM or it's been upgraded. Right now I can't use mine as I can't find it.

Where is the receiver located.  Is there a fuse with this system?

Thanks

Rick, my fob quick working, and like yours, my console switch still worked.  Put a new battery in the fob, still no luck.
I then got a fine, small file and lightly filed both contacts where they connected to the fob battery.  Then with needle nose pliers, I very slightly bent the contacts inward to press tight against the battery.

Buttoned it all back up, and it's worked well ever since.  Give it a shot, maybe you'll get lucky like I did.

On my coach, the receiver is behind the panel in front of the passenger seat with all the breakers and relays.

Your receiver is most likely gonzo.  The older components don't seem to last more than about 20 years.  I replaced my entire unit with some help from this old Beamalarm thread Trekmate Security System Wiring (http://web.archive.org/web/20200111052612/http://beamalarm.com/Documents/trekmate_security_system_wiring.html)

and this:  Keyless entry Brain replacement - Hawk Alarm RV101 (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=26810.msg217062#msg217062)

The 550 isn't available any longer as far as I can tell but this is, and looks the same as the 550 components.

Amazon.com: AutoLoc Power Accessories 9757 5-Function Keyless Entry with... (https://www.amazon.com/AutoLoc-Accessories-9757-5-Function-Keyless/dp/B000HKZ2VK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=32XIRT5J2HZ88&keywords=autoloc+9757&qid=1670116858&sprefix=autoloc+9757%2Caps%2C206&sr=8-1)      Woody.

What Mark said a good idea and reminded me of a fob I had that quit working and I cleaned the
contacts and it worked. My alarm receiver is in the electrical cabinet in front of the passengers
seat down by the floor on the right hand corner.

Hopefully, Chris Lang will chime in, as he had the remote changed out by Mark, the FOT tech.  Working fine now as far as I know.  This was just done about 2 months ago!

Ron, thought I picked this up here?  Was it you who posted this originally?

Attached is picture of my coaches (build 5367) wiring diagram for the keyless entry and what I think is the receiver.
So are you saying I can buy a new receiver and use my old wires.  Just follow the old vs new wire color diagram.

Thanks

Yes that is what I did.

On my receiver there are 12 posts that this white plug goes into.  But I don't understand where the wires that come from the actuators are.

Thanks

No, This was not my invention. I found it on the forum also. I wish I was smart enough to be able to claim it. LOL

Guess I'm old school. I put all that stuff in a box and use my keys. Manual works every time

This setup also worked for me. Just got it done today and it was an easy project thanks to this forum. I will add that I have one of these  original boxes (see picture) if somebody needs one. I'm pretty sure it is still good. It's just my key fobs that were junk and I couldn't get another key fob to sync with this box.
