Our '89 GV has an access door on the driver's side of the coach so that one can plug in water and shore power. Also access to the engine oil dipstick.
Because of this access, the side of the bed on the driver's side is the same height as the bed platform, about 2' short of the foot of the bed. Because of this the DW, with her bad right knee, has a difficult time getting in or out of her side. Crawling is quite painful for her.
Now, don't say that we should switch sides. I suggested that and she said:"NO WAY!!! Not after 59 years are we going to change!!"
So my thought is to ask if anyone has modified the driver's side of the bed platform?
Lower the side of the platform. Change the plug-ins locations? The engine dipstick would have to be accessed by lifting the bed, just like for the trans dipstick or changing V-belts.
I could possibly lower the platform side until just above the plug-ins location.
Any ideas?
I have the same.
Just measured . The bed is 78 in mol from the foot to headboard . About 72 wide.
Good chance that with a little thought that you could build a box under the window and turn the bed sideways . The rear person gets a tuff dismount , but the front can roll off into the hall.
I take the driver side now. Btw
Also maybe reverse the bed with your head at the front.
