Title: Added AUX system gauge and disable switch
Post by: WS6_Keith on December 08, 2022, 01:08:47 pm
For a while I've wanted to have a gauge in the coach to monitor the AUX air system pressure without having to go outside and open the bay. This week I installed a Dakota Digital gauge and a switch that will allow me to disable the AUX pump (at night) so it won't run.  I put this in the cabinet over the microwave that is basically unused otherwise.

The hard part was snaking the wires beside the fridge.  I finally accomplished this using the 3/16" fiberglass snake rods from Harbor Freight.  Best $9 I've spent in a while.  Was able to run the wires for this and the second See Level tank monitor display at the same time.

Nice install. I'm curious, why do you care what the auxiliary air pressure is when the coach is off? My 01 doesn't try to maintain any air in the tanks when parked and I've never felt like it was needed.

I do get the kill switch for the pump though... that was a godsend before I got all my leaks fixed

If I don't kill the Aux pump, then it maintains between 65-120psi for the slide bladders and leveling system. If the leveling system wants to air up, it needs this air pressure.  If it can't raise enough in 25 seconds, it will run the pump, which will wake me at night.

I'm pretty sure I have leaks in the rear 6-packs, lines or maybe bags.  That's one of this weekend's projects.
