Title: Very Slow Leak
Post by: dbennett9 on December 13, 2022, 07:02:45 pm
Recently I left one of my basement doors open for a few hours at a campground. While it was open, a (now deceased) rodent got in and began to wreak havoc. Before his demise, he chewed a good bit of the insulation off the bottom of the water heater tank. While cleaning up the mess, I noticed a very small drip coming from under the insulation. It drips about once every two or three minutes. I had never noticed any water in the compartment before. I made an access hole from the adjoining compartment and checked the connections on the rear of the tank, but found no sign of any leak. I can't find any sign of anything on the unit leaking. Someone suggested that it could be condensation, since the tank is now partially exposed to air. Has anyone had any experience with water heater tanks and condensation? Any other ideas?

If the tank had heat on all the time maybe the heat was drying up the water.

Do you mean the pressure relief valve?

No behind the heater if it was done there should be a bypass valve for taking your water heater out of the system when you winterize your coach
