Title: Winterizing fuel
Post by: Want2rv on December 20, 2022, 06:17:08 pm
My tank is full of summer blended fuel!
I'll be heading to New Hampshire in the near future.
What should I put in the tank?

I would recommend a Stanadyne product they have a winter fuel additive. Stanadyne LLC (originally known as Stanadyne Automotive Corporation) is a developer and manufacturer of fuel pumps and fuel injectors for diesel and gasoline engines.

I use the Power Service anti-gel winterize additive in all my diesel powered equipment when freezing conditions exist. I have never had a fuel problem when used.

Definitely need an anti gel. You should be able to find that at a truck stop.

Yup, an anti-gel.  Even Walmart carries PS brand.

I also can vouge for this. Been in the coldest of cold with this in the tanks. Always worked well for me.

This is a fun video about anti gel!

I just bought a bottle of Power Service anti-gel and will add it to the tank today.
Hope to take a drive tomorrow to mix it in and through the fuel system. I'll gun the generator as well.
Thanks for all the helpful advice!!!

I put the large container of power service in the tanks evenly between both tanks and fill the diesel to capacity. It is probably overkill as the container says it is good for 300 gallons but so be it. My coach currently is stored RIGHT now at -31f ( you read it correctly) and I have started the AH and generator and had it running(thanks for the gen start tips oldguy) with little problems. My testament to Power Service products...

A post suggesting use of inappropriate fluid was removed.  Thank you to the member who reported it and explained what was wrong.
