Title: Radiator cap.?
Post by: Bigoil76 on December 21, 2022, 11:54:07 pm
So I had my radiator cap replaced at Grandvention by mechanic there due to leaking. Thought it had stopped but it is leaking again with the new cap. Coming out from underneath lip. Have taken off a couple times and put back on. It is tight and on all the way. I'm going to try buying another new cap. Does anyone know the correct cap for a Cummins ISL 400? Proper pound rating and vented or not. The current cap has arrows on it that says to line up to vent. No matter how I put it on they do not line up with vent hose if that's what it means. How does that work? It does have an overflow tank. The current one is #16.

Not sure if the ISL uses the same one as my ISM, but this is the one I put on mine:  Heavy Duty Radiator Caps | Gates Corporation (https://www.gates.com/us/en/other-products/caps-and-thermostats/radiator-caps.p.7410-000000-000016.v.7410-00208.html)

Bought here:  Amazon.com: Gates 31350 Heavy-Duty Radiator Cap : Automotive (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002H35K0S)

Thanks Keith...I'll give that one a try. I think part of the problem is the cap hits the inlet to/from the overflow bottle when tightening. Why did they have to put that right at top of neck.? I need channel locks to turn cap on to seat. Maybe this cap has a thinner top... we'll see. Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and hope to see you guys in Q last in January...
