Title: Intellitec Multiplex Controls : Lights turn on and off randomly
Post by: Diane and Louie 04 U295 on December 23, 2022, 11:07:54 am
Hi,

All our lights turned on and off randomly in the middle of the night and still do.

What can be causing that ?

Batteries and inverter tested OK

Thank you

When that happened to us several years ago, it was the module in the wet/sewer bay failing.  That made the system think it was disconnecting and reconnecting when it does that.

Did you have to replace the module ?

We just put the master back together in order to try troubleshooting the module in the wet bay and our problem disappeared...  for now...

I will keep watching this tread and welcome any Ideas so we know what to try when it comes back.....

Thank you

Merry Christmas!

When the CAN bus* solid state automotive control systems become "interesting" it's usually because of low voltage.  A volt meter clipped into the control module can tell you what the voltage is when issues crop up without disturbing the power leads.

* "A Controller Area Network is a robust vehicle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other's applications without a host computer."

Or turn lights on and off without the need to run wires to and from each switch.  Best fun is when the battery is low in your minivan and the CAN bus turns all the lights on to really really make sure the battery is dead.

Thank you for the reply,

i already tested my batteries and they are in great shape, but i never checked voltage at the 4 modules , could be a faulty connection or intermittent short.

UPDATE on our problem/poltergeist.

About a week agi, we disconnected the wet/sewer bay module like suggested and it did not come back.

Thank you for the advice
