ML-ACR Automatic Charging Relay with Manual Control - 12V DC 500A I installed yesterday.
I was planning to put it where the boost switch is but I would have to make up new cables. I wired
it up with the boost switch to work with the boost solenoid but that some how stops it from
working automatically. I will try with a diode and see if that will work if not if I need more boost
I can always lift the bed and do it manually. I have 300 amp hours for start batteries, never could
find out how many cranks amps there is but it starts fine below freezing. I have 1200 amp hours for
house batteries so I have a lot for starting. It will engage whether the alternator or inverter charger
or solar is charging
It's been working great with no issues.

Check the CCA (cold cranking amps) written on the side of your battery. The 300 amp hours is duration not amperage available to start your coach. The CCA needed will depend on whether you have an 8.3 or 10.8 Cummins. So, add each battery's CCA up to get the total CCAs available to start.
We need about 1200 CCA for our 9 liter Detroit but I factored in cold weather, high altitude and old batteries so have three 950 CCA 31 series engine/start batteries and have plenty reserve.

I have 3 starting batteries 100 Amp hour each and they never told me what the CCA but said they
would work and they do in cold weather. These batteries have the same power no mater what the
temperature. I don't use boost as there is no need except last year when it was hard starting so I
ordered new batteries which turned out to be the starter was using too much current. Put the new
batteries in and tired to start the engine, would hardly turn over. Next try nothing and the starter
died. This starter and batteries turns the engine over way faster than the old system
What starter did you install? Looking for a faster start cycle as mine complains to me all the time...

I got a gear reduction starter and there was already a gear reduction starter on it. I got it from
Western Starter near me I believe it just had there name on it. They are an old school type a shop
and they do great work.
