Good morning everyone,
The automatic purge valve for the HWH auxiliary air compressor is stuck open .
I removed it this morning and replaced it with a new bowl with a manual drain.
Is it ok to leave the aux compressor lines pressurized?
Can I leave the automatic purge valve removed as a permanent fix?
Thanks
Not sure if it's OK or not but you would be starting your compressor under load which doesn't seem like a good idea. You would also lose the self draining function for the primary filter bowl which would keep more moisture in the system and wear out the dessicant beads sooner. As it is it seems like they need monthly replacement with normal compressor usage. Have you looked into cleaning up your existing purge valve or replacing it with a new one?
I would fix it as designed.
Just in case you weren't aware, you can bake/microwave and reuse the desiccant beads.
So the drain solenoid has several functions. One is that it unloads the compressor for easier starting. Two it drains the water seperator bowl on every compressor cycle. Very nice feature. Several days ago I ordered a simular solenoid from amazon for basically the same function as on the aux compressor for my bronco project because I liked the simplicity of operation.

Well
I tried to unscrew the center part but it was too tight.
I was able to take off the nut which exposed an o ring. Did not do anything else and put it back together.
It's working again, no leaks.
If anyone knows how to take this apart to clean it please advise.
Thanks
