Time again to change out fuel filters in my '98 U295 with C8.3 mechanical engine. When I bought it 2 years ago it had a Fleetguard FS19513 fuel/water separator, and when I changed it out last year I bought the same one. I see that others out there use one with a glass bowl on the bottom; mine does not have that. What is the make and model of that filter that I can use in place of the FS19513?
It's a plastic bowl and that is usually and up graded Racor filter. The filter that came with your
coach was probably a Winn Filter with a plastic screen filter on the side. If you posted a picture
it would help.
It's this one: Amazon.com: FS19513 Fleetguard Fuel Water Separator : Automotive (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BHJKF4KQ/ref=ewc_pr_img_4?smid=A2ZUE6T51OJZ9W&psc=1)
That looks like the secondary filter, it would be the primary filter with a clear base.
Nope, with a 20 micron element, the is definitely a primary fuel filter.
Depending on engine/fuel injection system, the secondary filter will be in the 2 to 5 micron range.
Someone changed the original one with the plastic bottom and found a filter that would do the job without the bowl and threw the old one away. Check on the filter list for that year and model coach for the correct filter with the bowl.
Have the same engine and mine came with a Baldwin BF5813, no glass or plastic bowl. Been using the same for seven years. You can drain some fuel into a clear container to sample the fuel now and then. Not convenient but also doesn't leak or break. Your original paperwork might list the filter supplied by FOT.
Did away with the plastic bowl on mine years ago.fleet guard 19930 or Baldwin BF 1223 10 micron primary fuel. Way less mess Than fooling around with the plastic bowl. 8-10K miles a year change filters once a year never had a problem. Only buy fuel from high volume fuel stops.
