Title: Square tubing size
Post by: dsd on February 18, 2023, 02:51:07 pm
2001 U320 zipdee awning. Does anyone know the size of the manual awning square tubing that connects to the end fitting on the main awning that slides inside the other half. Im at work and remembered a project I want to do of mounting whip lights to the awning. Would go straight up when stowed and out diagonally with awning out. Figured I would order some aluminum tube to slide over the smaller tube and with a pinch bolt secure in the upper position. Using a dimmer on the LED whip lights would make them a acceptable camp light and on bright possibly strobing for night location and hazard lighting. Whip lights have a nice stainless base and are easily removable while driving. Figured I could order materials for mount.

.725" OD . Ordered aluminum tubing 1"x1" .125 wall. Will be about .025 loose. Support is stainless.  So aluminum 6061 tubing will be a good match. Thinking of round discs with a pinch bolt in the middle and a 1/4" pip pin to lock in place at desired position
