Title: 300200 Parker Racor filter options
Post by: Zach on February 21, 2023, 11:06:57 am
The inlet on my 300200 pre-filter is warped. New o-rings don't help much until the assembly warms up. Priming introduces air into the chamber. So.... what are my options?

My attempts of finding a 300200 in stock are coming up short. Apparently, there is a shortage nationwide. My other option is to change the whole thing out to a 790R30. This also may be in short supply.

Are there any other options that I should consider? Does anyone have some of these that they've stockpiled or have a source for them? Fulltiming in the Arizona desert and I'd like to not stay here any longer than necessary.

EDIT..... And as I am now able to chat with dieselfiltersonline, they say that they have 'several' in stock, so I placed an order for two. We shall see if they ship out. :D

Glad you found them. As I put in the Fass System I have a spare sitting in a box.

So they use four Orings. You will need to replace all four. Two are inside the housing and will have to use a hook to remove.

Yes, I purchased 100 of each, but with the inlet warped, it's not sealing at all regardless of new o-rings.

Based upon my experience I recommend going with the 790R30. I'm still well pleased with my decision to install one.

It's definitely on my wish list. I'm hoping to not have to do that quite yet. There are other ways to spend $500+ dollars right now. Looking back on posts about them, they were around $350 or less. The 300200 also used to be around $30.. Now everything seems to be double.

I ordered one based on your recommendation. 99 U320. Old pump was original and smoked. Was everything plug and play? Harness? Fittings ?  Mounting holes?

So since I replaced the 20 year old screen and all the o-rings, mine has been flawless. Many have issues with them but I have not. I did add a way to test and prove the water detection circuit was working also.

. Yes I will eventually install a fuel polishing system but no rush.  FASS

I have had the water light come on and pressed it. Didn't know what to expect and out came water(?)/diesel all over the place. The PO had a bag of sorts ziptied below the outlet prior to me realizing what it was for. Removed the bag because it was full of liquid and covered in mud.

This pre-filter has been the biggest culprit of air in the fuel lines for me. I have also purchased new fuel line, I just tend to keep the fuel a little too full for me to want to remove the tank and replace them as i don't have to place to put 100+ gallons of fuel. I may have to go into Phoenix to find some used 55 gallon drums just to get it over with.

When I had the Monaco the prefilter got warped and as it never leaked I never put the new one
on. If you are going to spend $500 dollars on a new Racor filter why not spend a bit more and get the
Fass System.

Kind of late to add something but this could help someone in the future.
Something to think about when replacing your fuel filter system is availability of replacement filters if you get a load of bad fuel on the road. I know there are those that only get fuel at a place that turn over a lot of fuel, never when there is a fuel delivery, or after a thunderstorm and feel sure that they are safe. BUT sheet happens at times no matter how careful you are. Even caring 1 or 2 replacement filters may not be enough especially if the filters that you have stuck back have aged out. (Yes, filters age out like your tires) Nothing wrong with the filter systems listed in this thread and there are a couple of others that are popular with the class 8 truck people.  I guess the moral of the story is research is your best friend before you buy a filter system that only has replacement filter elements via 7 day mail service.

That is the nice thing is that there is common filters that in a pinch that will fit the Fass System.
I believe one of the filters is a Cat. but I would have to go into there site to find out and maybe
it would be a good idea for me to find out what filters work and write it down.

I have had warping happen several times. Both top and bottom get out of round and filter sucks air. Latest filter is seeming to still be holding up. I lubed o rings before install with petroleum jelly and very carefully seated filter. Time will tell. Am also considering Fass system eventually. Well down my list. Too may projects not enough money

I ordered the R90P from FOT to replace the Racor original system that was in the coach.  No issues installing and glad I did.  Don't remember off hand the price, but was thought to be just under $300 with shipping.  Changed this while we were in Yellowstone NP.  Easy to bleed and filters are readily available as well.
