On my 2000 Cummins ISM 450 I have this sensor at the rear of the engine that is leaking oil.
I have looked through my engine manual and it doesn't talk about it.
The sensor seems loose but I can figure out how to tighten it up. Is this something I should be considered about?
For the mean time I wrap a shop towel around the sensor to help it stay a little cleaner.
Thanks for your help.
That isn't a sensor it is wires going into the head probably for the injectors. Properly a o ring.
I see you have a Jake Brake.
Yes I do have a Jake Brake.
I take it the o ring is in the head. How do I get at the o ring?
Are those wires like a plug and I gently unplug them from the head and that's where the o ring is.
Thanks
That's the front of the engine, the engine is in backwards. I went and looked at my engine but
I don't have those wires there. I'm assuming there is an O ring. I don't know if you can get at it
taking the tappet cover off. Someone else may have worked on it before and can give you more
advice. I have a Jake also which I installed.
Any Cummins tech familiar with that engine could tell you in a heart beat.
Also, may be able to find the information on Cummins Quick Service with your engine serial number.
There is a post about that wire loom and oil leak. I can't find it but it had the o-ring part number and I bought one for when i adjust the valves to install it.
Unsure if this is it, but it should get you closer. At the bottom is a o ring that is frequently bought together. Check that. Enter your ESN to confirm.

I did find some post regarding wire loom oil leak. I need two o-rings or a new wiring harness.
I need to take a closer look at what shape the harness is in.
Thanks for all your help.
Big Al,
I found the thread linked below that seems to deal with this subject. It may be the same one you found...

Good hunting Chuck, that is where I got the seal information from David's post.
