Over the weekend I fired up my coach to let it run a bit as it hasn't moved in a month or so. While it started fine and had oil pressure, the stop engine light was on, then the engine stopped after 30 seconds of running. It did restart and the light went out after about 10 seconds or so the next go around. I looked up the code on the VMSpc and it came up as a coolant level sensor. The overflow is above the cold mark, so I'm guessing it's the sensor. Where is this sensor located? I could not find it through Cummins Quickserve by serial number searching for coolant sensor.
Is it on the reservoir (see circled sensor in picture)?
Yes It is on the coolant tank and I carry a spare if you need. Also carry a cam position sensor. Both will strand you
Edit; 4-4-2023 speed sensor in trans also
Scott do you have the part numbers? Something I need to carry also.
Thanks Scott, no trips planned yet, but if you could share the PN, that would be great. I'll get one incoming.
I'll get numbers tomorrow. I think I have posted both but running around
This is possibly it if the numbers match up Keith for the coolant sensor!

Just to add for some of those that have a sensor that looks different than the ones listed. On some coaches they used a Robert Shaw/ Mini Tek sensor @#086714A0001. They do the same function just make sure that the threads are the same as what the new style sensors have.

Went to install the replacement sensor today. Looks like it wasn't an problem as when I removed it, no coolant came out. It seems that while the overflow was sitting at "full cold", there was nothing in the metal reservoir. I reinstalled the sensor and poured in about 2.5 gallons of new coolant to top off the reservoir. I guess I'll add the new sensor to my spares kit.
You have either a bad radiator cap or a leak between the metal tank filler cap and the reservoir. The reservoir holds the expansion water and returns it when the engine cools.
And some important details from craneman in an older topic (Just Got Our First Foretravel - Renovations Started (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=31050.msg279792#msg279792)):
Make sure you have (or are replacing with) the proper recovery cap.
On the Cam position sensor topic. I see the off brand price under $30. the cummins part at $260, I'm looking to have one as a spare to avoid being "stranded" . Opinions Please
where it me I go for the aftermarket as their are a lot of options out there. I'm running an aftermarket exhaust manifold including gaskets bolts s and spacers for a little over 400 bucks. Cummins wanted 1200 bucks just for the manifold. Don't get me wrong, bolt on parts are one thing. But major parts reman heads, injectors, pistons, rings and so on Cummins only.
Bill,
I'm in the same boat as Bruce as I carry an aftermarket cam sensor. After looking at your profile and seeing you have a 320. Make sure you have a wrench that fits in the hole to remove/install the sensor. Seems like there is a post from some time back that shows the wrench that several have made to reach the sensor. I will hunt around see if I can find that post and link it here for you.

Here is one thread that shows the magic tool for the oil pressure sensor but is the same thing for the cam sensor. Mine is made from a socket but this gives you an idea as to what you need. If I find another thread I will post it also. ISM 500 Low Oil Pressure Warning in Rain (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=41981.msg419711#msg419711)
