I think I remember a post on this but for the life of me can not locate it.
Does anyone have details or articles of how to remove the monitor from the dash on 98 U 320 as I want to install a new monitor over it and require the removal of the old crt first
Peter
I removed mine and it was straight forward I don't remember anything difficult.
I remember it being a bit of work. You have to lift up the covered dash and as in all things Foretravel there were several fasteners to remove. For extra safety you might want to disconnect the ground straps on the chassis and house batteries, there are a lot of wires in that dash and a dropped wrench could end up connecting stuff that shouldn't be connected. Seems like I also had to lift up the center dash cover, especially if you are going to connect your Javelina display output to the new monitor. On my 98 you lift up the dash cover before lifting up the center dash cover. Both hinge toward the windshield and over time can get sort of stuck. A flash light or headlamp was helpful. I also had to disconnect my temperature control switch at dash as the cable was in the way of the monitor coming up and out of the dash. The allen set screw is tiny on the temperature control switch knob.
On my 2001 it was simply a matter of pulling off the back dash panel piece and unscrewing a wingnut
I replaced mine a few years ago'
Replacing the Javalina CRT (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=30460.0)
Note: my '96 had backlite dash instruments rather than the electroluminescent dash so there might be a simpler.
Yes, the dash top hinges up . An RCA jack into the Audit
