Title: Replace/update front drop-down overhead TV
Post by: tsonby on April 15, 2023, 02:05:19 pm
New owners of a 2014 IH45.  Thinking about updating the front/drop-down TV wit a smart/Wifi enabled/embedded TV.

Has anyone done an update of a drop-down TV?  Looks like the facia has 3 screws on either side of the cabinet.  Could it be just that easy to remove those, pull the facia off, unbolt/replace/upgrade the TV, reconnect and reinstall the facia

Thanks
Tom & Rhonda

I bought a Roku.  Installed in AV cabinet in place of Sat 2. Remote for Roku is Rf so works perfect. I can use on any TV in or outside.

That's probably the best alternative at this point.  Given the vintage of the TVs in the RV I wont get the 4K I guess through the screen but its a lot faster/easier than taking apart the whole front overhead assembly.

BTW... The Mirco-Air thermostat works great!

And still hunting air leak(s).  I tightening a couple of lines around the compressor itself seems to have reduced the amount of runtimes to twice an hour for 1-2 min.    Guessing it may be just "age" of fittings loosing up in odd places.

Not sure what your setup looks like, but this thread has some ideas.  I posted reply #19, which is how the factory updated my front TV, removing the cabinetry and adding an access trim panel above.

I replaced that TV with a Samsung smart TV, back in 2016 or so, see reply #25.  But now I want to use the DirecTV app when I have internet available, and to be able to watch it while in motion, without using the satellite dish.  But any Samsung TV's manufactured before 2017 don't have the ability to play the DirecTV app.  So, unless I want to replace the TV yet again, I have the option to use an Apple TV, which has been working great!

Yes. I replaced all the TVs (including the front drop-down) on our 2013 IH45. We purchased the Sony 4k TVs and had the Foretravel Factory install them. Massive upgrade in quality.
