Hi everyone,
I am looking for a new base for the skylight. The part that screws into the roof.
Foretravel only sells the dome part.
Has anyone replaced the actual base?
Thanks
Frank,
I went through replacing our skylight about 5 years ago. Back then we had a long rambling Forum thread going about skylights. It may still contain some good links. I ended up using a replacement unit from Lowes. It has held up pretty well for 5 years. It is still flexible and free of cracks. Only "bad" thing about it is the amber outer bubble lost the nice clear transparent quality and turned cloudy. Still lets plenty of light through... It looks like they don't sell that one anymore, but they carry another similar product. I did NOT use the "base" component from the Lowes kit because our OEM base was still in good shape. The one in the Lowes kit was a lighter gauge aluminum and seemed to me less sturdy. However, it may have worked fine - I just didn't try it. See the links below for possibly useful hints and tips. First link is to the thread. Second link is the product I used (no longer available). Third link is the current Lowes offering.

I remember reading on those posts.
The outboard side of my base has "only"
24 screws. The other sides have the normal count.
Will continue to find options.
The base is almost 30 " which is all I need
Thanks
OK, that's a lot wider base than the one on our coach. Probably none of the info in my links will be of any use.
Apparently called a self flashing skylight.
Some have holes drilled into the base and some don't from what I have found.
Contacted Visone RV they don't have one.
My skylight is actually fine. It's just the extra 12 holes on the outboard side.
I guess I will fill them in.
Why do you need to change base ?
Hi Barry,
Well through its life the base has acquired 24 screws on the outside edge.
It should only have 12per side.
I'm currently at Xtreme getting the roof worked on and thought I would pick up a new base, which according to Foretravel, they stopped making 15 years ago.
We understand putting back new after removing stuff from the coach to improve the coach at Xtreme, but you may want to consider putting this one back and not using all the holes. But could replace the skylight dome and inside frosted panel.
For our full body paint job 10 years ago, we replaced a few items with new, like mirrors, windows, hand hold, door lock, etc.
We did put back some roof stuff that was removed for patching and painting roof.
When they remove the base they are going to fill in all the holes and put 12 screws all the way around like it should be. The extra holes on the base will be filled in.
