Title: Hydraulic leak
Post by: Bob Raab on June 07, 2023, 02:33:07 pm
Coach-2006 Phenix, engine 525 ISX.  There is a fluid leak, drivers side aft corner, from one of the two radiators. Fluid is clean oil, obviously not engine oil. At first I thought it was coolant, but that system passed a pressure check. Every trip the towed is covered with oil.  Question #1- where is the hydraulic tank?  Question #2- Is the engine cooling fan hydraulically powered? Question #3- has anyone had this problem?  Need help!  Thank you.

It's probably hydraulic oil as my coach has a hydraulic cooler and maybe you have a fuel cooler.

With safety stands in place, you need to look under the coach to see the SOURCE of the leak.

Bob,

Are you a "do it yourself" owner or will you seek professional assistance?  Either way it will help if you can pinpoint the source of the leak.  The standard method would be to first clean all the oil mess off the engine and associated areas.  Then run the engine for a few minutes and shut it off.  Then look around to hopefully find the source of the leak.  If successful decide how to proceed.
