I have a smaller tank ahead of my front and rear main air tanks. This smaller tank is about the same length as my Front and rear air tanks, but is smaller in diameter. There is what looks like a very small plug at one end. This item has a hole in it which leaks the air from both front and rear tanks I believe. Can someone tell me what this "plug" is and can it be removed and replaced? In the picture it looks like it sticks out more than it does. There is some rubber stuff around it, maybe someone patched over the hole, the rubber stuff came off, and now it is leaking badly.
Looks to me like someone put a patch on the tank. New tanks are not that expensive. I'd consider a new tank. I think I remember a recent tank replacement thread.

I decided to change out the tank. Tryng to get the air all out first. I may have another problem, the pinhole has been draining the brake system tanks also. I see on the diagram a line that runs to the wet tank from the slide bladder tank. I have the tank emptying and now the front and rear brake tanks are also slowly emptying. I have the drain valve open on the slide bladder tank, but still getting a force of air and there is a gauge under the coach on the front tank that is slowly going down. QUESTION: Is this normal? I have 4 blocks on the front and two on the back for protection if the air bags lose air for some reason. The air bags are new. I will soon be ready to remove the connections from the tank. The flexible tubing air lines must be removed first before the fitting will turn. I think the procedure is to use an open end wrench the right size to push or hold the moveable part of the plastic and pull out on the line.
Not normal for my coach. In mine there is a check valve in line #57 which prevents the chassis from bleeding into the HWH system. Take a close look at your air schematic again. If it indicates a check valve, then yours has failed.
Yes. Remove the flex tubing first. It is a compression fitting. Remove the nut and pull the tube retaining the compression sleeve on the tube.
Well I got the tank out. The fittings were 90 els with push on connections to air piping. I finally got one off and then I realized that the ninety el swiveled, so I could unscrew it from the bung and leave the plastic tubing connected. Anyway the tank measures 30 inches port to port on the ends and diameter of 9 inches which to me translates to 5 gallon capacity. I think I should put back at least the size I took out. Found one on Amazon for $163 delivery next week. May shop around some more before ordering. This one is very close to my size I will have fabricate some brackets to use it though.

Did considerably more research before ordering the replacement tank. Some calculations indicated that the FOT installed tank was a little over 6 gallons or 1425 Cu Inches in volume. The reason I know is I found the exact replacement. FOT installed a Haldex Part #19810 which has saddle brackets on each end for mounting. After 20 years, Haldex is still making the tank and they are readily available from a variety of sources. So rather than reinvent the wheel, I would rather not fabricate new mounts while under my coach on a creeper. I'm showing the same p/n tank was used from roughly the first slide coach at least through 2003.

That is way bigger than my bladder tank for a single room slide in 2000. Is this for multiple slides, air awnings, etc?
Nope. The Parts Manual for a 2003 U320 shows Foretravel started using that tank beginning with coach 5643. There were no air awnings after the 2002 model year (and that might have been the only one with an air awning). Odd that yours (5766) uses a different tank.
My coach does have two slides and it came with an automatic awning. PO replaced automatic awning with manual awning. and I have removed the air steps with a conversion from Extreme. So I probably could do with smaller. but how much and I would have to figure out how to mount a smaller tank. Thanks

Interesting. When I first found my leaking tank, I did not think it held more than a couple of gallons. However Haldex says that my tank which is round 8 inches diameter and 30 inches long holds 1425 cu inches or 6.1 gallons volume. It did not seem that large to me at first.
A little longer than a "corny" keg (for us homebrewers) ;)
