I did a search on the forum to see if this was already answered but I don't see it discussed. If I missed it I apologize, and please someone point me to the thread.
I imagine I must not be the only one who has a septic pipe that is larger than the standard septic hoses. I have a black adapter that came with my coach that steps down from the pipe to the correct size for standard septic hoses. I'm worried if this breaks I'll be screwed, and I would like to buy a backup one. Can someone please tell me where I can find this? I can't find such an adapter anywhere when I do a search online.
Thanks
Amazon.com: Valterra T05-2285VP Universal Adapter - Thetford to Valterra ,... (https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T05-2285VP-Universal-Adapter-Thetford/dp/B0006N5S6C)
Your best bet would be to glue a reducer on your pipe to reduce the size of the pipe to accept the "modern" type of outlet.
The Valttera adapters are very flimsy and tend to leak a bit especially if they have a side load applied.
If you stay with just a Valttera adapter buy a few of them, they break easily.
Lon; in 10 years of full time use, I have never broken a Valterra product and have used those adapters sold on Amazon as well. I am sorry you had an issue with yours.
So I started with an adapter and it tended to leak, cut off the old Thetford fitting and glued the reducer and Valterra "common" fitting to the pipe. Has been reliable for me past four years.
MM1313. No clue what coach you have? On my 2001 U320 i cut the factory connector off and added a Amazon.com: Valterra 3" RV Waste Dump Gate Valve w/Cap (1) : Automotive (https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-Waste-Dump-Gate-Valve/dp/B076FG17DZ/ref=sr_1_14?crid=1GYDE26PAQX7W&keywords=valterra+3+inch+waste+valve&qid=1687119111&sprefix=Valterra+%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-14)
And converted over. Having a third valve has many benefits to me. Belts and suspenders mentality and being able to back flush the black tank with they gray tank. Works great for me. I usually transfer all my potable water but a couple gallons into my gray tank while we are driving home .

Thanks to everyone who replied. i found the adapter and got one. much appreciated.
Do you have a picture with the 3" valve installed? I might do the same thing and want to see how you installed it. Thanks
Dylan,
Read the thread linked below for some ideas about how to do the 3rd valve mod. The waste valve arrangement can vary on different year/model coaches, so you may have to get creative.

I glued a 3rd valve with adapter on to my main pipe, which I found to be a great solution.
If you go with this solution, measure carefully the depth to sidewall and the angle of the valve handle.
