Title: Electric 50 amp cord reel
Post by: Mike Minegar on June 28, 2023, 12:07:52 am
For some reson my 50 amp electric cord reel has quit. I can't find a fuse or breaker anywhere for it. I believe its a "Cable Master Reel" by brand but by googling that...I really don't get anything up under that name...any people have this issue??

Are you talking about it don't have power to the drive motor?  If so that should be one of the manual reset breakers located in the basement on that 12vdc breaker panel.

OR  are you talking about the reel isn't passing 120ac voltage to the coach?  If so most likely bad brushes in the ring or burnt spot in the commentator ring not letting power pass. Move reel to a different spot and see if that lets you get power.

Could also have a failed transfer switch. Under  the end of your bed there is a cover you can remove with bed raised to assess everything. Pretty easy to check power there coming from cord too once the cover is off the transfer switch. Be careful.

OK I'm sorry...kind of didn't explain correctly/ I used the electric cord reel to let cord out. I just let it come all the way out and did not shut it off by the toggle..couple days later I went to retract 50 amp cord and I had nothing at the toggle switch. So is the breakers under the fiberglass panel in the basement where all the battery 12V wiring comes together?? It sure seems to have just lost it's power to the actual reel motor.

Sounds like you may need to replace the switch as the contacts may be fried.
Yes the breaker should be in the basement behind the fiberglass safety cover. On an '01 I have no idea which one at the moment and don't have a print handy where I am stuck at.

No 12v at the switch, as measured by a voltmeter?  If it's the drum or reel version, there is a limiter sensor that keeps the cable from being moved in/out too far--that 4-roller sensor may have jammed--just spit-balling here?

I have a Glendinning 04016-C-36 RLC Cablemaster Motorized 50A RV Power Cable Storage System. I have a switch that is used to let the cord out or in. If I let it let all of the cord out and do not shut the switch off it will trip the breaker.  In my coach it is under the white cover where the breakers are, One is labelled power storage and has a little button that when tripped it will be out. I just push back in and all is good.
