Title: Slide Creep
Post by: hdff on June 30, 2023, 02:47:54 pm
Our br slide will slide out a little on its own over time while parked. I'm told the term for this is slide creep and the are solenoids on the pump that need to be replaced. I called the mothership and the have them in stock bit they are very proud of them. I sent a request to HWH but who knows how long before they reply. Does anyone know the part number or a source so I can try to make google my friend.. I talked to Keith Risch about it and he said it is something I can do. Just hoping to find the part a little cheaper.

Thanks
Keith

Keith, try Northwest RV.  They have a good supply of HWH parts.  With the solenoid part number, you should be able to find it on their website.

HWH RAP42632 Solenoid - Northwest RV Supply (https://www.nwrvsupply.com/product/hwh-rap42632-solenoid/)

Any chance of getting a part number from FT.  Not sure if this one is correct or not.

Still waiting on a callback from HWH parts from before I bought my GV. Let me know if you hear back

So the test Hach referenced in this thread last year isolated the issue to a solenoid?

Slide moving on its own... (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=44826.0)

Yes, it moves more than an inch. Also Keith Risch thinks it's the solenoid also. 2 of the 4 look to have been already replaced
I did a search today and that thread didn't come up for some reason

I've had some slight creep for a while now in my 2002 u295 with the wardrobe slide in the bedroom, I had seen some other posts about it could be a check valve could be the solenoids etc so I hadn't really got around to diagnosing it yet but I thought probably I would check the check valve first. I got around to replacing the carpet in the toilet closet bathroom and bedroom floor. When we were taking up the carpet in the bedroom I had always had a stain on the carpet in front of the bed in front of the closet that I thought was possibly from body oils and we could never get it shampooed out I bought this coach in 2019. The wood was also stained in front of the closet so I got to investigating and found that the rearmost RAM for the slide was seeping oil so I immediately start investigating to replace the ram or getting a seal kit or whatever HWH said they could make me a ram and it would be about 6 weeks for them to complete it and about $260.00. any loss of fluid would be a loss of pressure so I'm pretty much confident that this will stop my slide creep I was able to take the ram apart locate some seals in Las Vegas and dsd, Scott and I located the seals at this store in Las Vegas I will post the part number of the ram seals and then I have the receipt with the part number for the o-rings and everything needed to do it. It might be a couple of weeks before I know if this took care of my slide creep or not but for $13 it's obviously worth a try instead of going after those expensive solenoids. Thanks. Jim.

That is the part number I got from foretravel today, I'm going to order 2 from northwest today.

UPDATE:::  I got the solenoids from NW RV supply and put them on last week, no slide creep so far....  They were easy to change out... got my fingers crossed this did it..  apparently the solenoids for the front slide had been changed sometime in the past.. the black one is the old one, the silver one is the previously replaced one, the new one (not pictured) is silver like the one pictured...

Can you give us a quick lesson on what needs to be done and how to change out?

Unplugged the wires, The black one had a 1/4" nut on the end, turn it 4 rounds to relieve the pressure, then I used channel locks to unscrew it. Very little fluid escaped. Screw the new one in. The new one and the existing old silver one have a cantilever lever on top instead of the 1/4" nut making it easier to bleed the pressure if I ever have to do this again. You can see white lever on the silver one.
