Title: Headlight replacement
Post by: Yetch on July 04, 2023, 08:23:59 am
I have to replace one of the original headlights, 97 U320.  Been searching the forum and I come up with a replacement assembly for  99-02 Silverado.  Does this headlight assembly replace the original 2 headlights, is it an 'easy' replacement, or should I just stick with the original?  And what is a replacement for the original?  Not really concerned about the functionality of the originals as I don't drive the coach at night.
Thanks, Mike

The GM headlights were in the newer style front end.  Do a search here for Ford headlights.

There are quite a few years and 99 is one of them. You can now get them in LEDs

The Ford headlight is for 89-91 Bronco or F150-F350

So by design you are limited on something that will work well. They are too low to start with and on the spectrum of headlamps are pathetic at best.
This is what I did
Bronco headlight projection conversion (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=38364.0)

There is a lot of good information in the link. The lenses with the prisms are nothing more than a patch to poor development. Whatever you end up with PLEASE walk out if front of your coach and make sure they are not blinding to oncoming traffic  on low beam.
Scott
For what it worth I'm very happy with my setup and have been adjusting them up seeking complaints from oncoming traffic. I have stayed very conservative on adjustments and had none yet. Will back down when I do.
