Title: engine air compressor
Post by: dans96u295ft on July 06, 2023, 10:11:01 am
All is working okay. Just wondering at 129,000 and original 1996 engine air compressor, is there a service kit or do I need to do anything to assure trouble free going forward?
Thanks

There are spendy rebuild kits for them. Google your compressor.

These air compressors are very long-lived.  Though I am big into Preventive Maintenance, I would not do anything to it unless there are symptoms. The air supply to it is from your main engine air filter (comes off intake manifold, so it is cleaned, "pressurized" by the turbo and cooled by the CAC). So, as long as the main air filter is kept serviced.......

I took mine apart to service the unloaded valves .
It looked new inside. The unloader valve was a little stuck. But still was probably working fine.
At 150k  .
The only real service item  , at our service miles and maintenance level , should be the unloader valve . Imho
