I am still in the process of refreshing my entire Generator area. Part of which was to replace the end cap bearing and thankfully so as the one that was in it, though not sloppy loose was near worn out.
A question that I cannot seem to find any posts on any where.....What about the bearing on the other end of the Generator? Has anyone ever found the need to replace that one? My Powertech owners manual states that BOTH bearings are greased for life, but we all know that is not the case on the outward end cap one.
As far as I know there is only one bearing.
The rear main bearing of the engine is the other bearing.
Good to know, would not have thought that. Figured the Gen was bearing at both ends and some sort of flywheel coupler of sorts between Gen and engine.
Thank you for the detail. Was hoping I wasnt missing something...Lifting the entire assembly tomorrow to mount it onto my new Slide box then back in.
You really want to change it before you install
I have already replaced the end cap bearing with the Timken Sealed 6206-2RSC3. I had not seen anyone , anywhere, on any forum mention ever doing the one that CRANE states is the actual rear main of the engine itself.
I was thinking there was possibly another TIMKEN 6206-2RSC3 on the other end of the Gen assembly.
The one Crane stated is the engine so there is nothing to change.
That rear main bearing will outlast us.(with oil changes).
