Title: Removing the Dining table and curved seating
Post by: Spowell on July 15, 2023, 01:11:34 pm
Hmm..  I'm not really sure what to call it but has anyone removed the curved "couch" seating and dining table from their coach?  My 2002 has the table that slides in and out with that half moon style seating bench.  Wondering hoe difficult it is remove?  Since I travel alone, it is really a waste and I would rather have a desk there...

Pull the sliding drawers out of everything and see what's back there, likely some electrical, aqua hot. Some areas may not be covered on flooring/walls.

At least for an 01, it's very easy to remove. I did it in quartzite with limited tools and transferred mine to Woody's coach right there in the desert. There's a bunch of wiring in the corner that I just tucked under the carpet. The table leg screws into the wood platform of the slide and at least on mine, when removed, it left a patch with no carpeting there. Note that you have a different slide mechanism than my 01 so the exposed box in my pictures that covers the hydraulic slide arms/ram may be different on your coach. I covered that box in 1/4" black walnut paneling that I sourced from a local hardwoods store. Satin polyurethane, no stain. The trim around the edges is stained oak.

I'm always surprised hear that someone wants to remove the J couch.  We found that it is much more comfortable and spacious when we have another couple over for cards or a board game.  It also works well when you have a tall teenager sleeping on the couch.  You have to make modifications for your own purposes, but it might be a disadvantage when it comes to selling it.
Otherwise, it looks like an easy job and you shouldn't have trouble finding someone who can use it.

I removed mine and had FT extend the floor of the slide a bit and we put in a dining bar.  IT was good for eatin and working and looking out the window too.
