I'm replacing my freshwater hose. I decided to get the more expensive plug and play one since I don't want any leaks.
I got the 3 bolts off the reel and Sunday I'm going to install the new hose. It seems straightforward but are there any unknowns i should know about?
My other question is my check valve is not working. I would prefer to just put the new hose on and use the plastic plug it comes with to stop any back flow leaks. When you think of it is the same principle, it is just at the end of the hose.
It would be difficult to reach inside the compartment every time I travel when reeling the hose in to turn off a manual shut off valve.

IMO, NOT a good idea.
There will be some leakage when disconnecting from shore water until the plug is fit and waterproof.
That water will leak into the rear bulkhead!
The wet bay needs to be TOTALLY DRY.
I am not sure from the write-up at what point you plan to install a plug. I install a simple plug that I made from a piece of old garden hose in the end of the supply hose. I do have a check valve that works but this plug is my insurance policy for no leaks. Plus it keeps out any critters that may try to enter my hose.

I installed a secondary ball valve in the line you show. Replaced the check valve and its easy to reach in and shut it off if check valve failed again
I did buy this shark shut off valve for extra protection. I was going to put it in the line before the reel. See picture; shark valve and arrow where I would put it.

What i did is a little more complex but am very happy with it. It involves four ball valves, a UniSeal, a few T's and Elbows, a PVC hose connector, and a little time.
I can now use the hose reel as normal,
Use the UniSeal to fast fill the tank through hose reel or secondary hose,
If auto fill goes bad, fill through UniSeal with hose reel or secondary hose,
If hose reel goes bad, hook up to secondary hose to have City water,
Close all 4 valves for travel, no chance of back flow leaks.
Now have redundant systems for all water inlet connections.
I put all valves within easy reach, one of the great things about Pex is easy to work with. Very happy with the outcome.

I didn't see a check valve in the parts list.... I realize you've probably added manual valves to prevent backflow, but it's still a good idea to have a check valve.
Yes, I did replace the check valve in the stock location. The main reason I did the set up was because of check valve going bad and only lasting 3 years after last replacement.
Turbojack, yes, the valves are labeled 1 thru 4 and I have a chart lamented and mounted next to the pump and auto fill switches showing what should be open and what should be closed depending on the water path I want.

So next time I dig into this I will be deleting the check valve and use the ball valve i added to shut off water to the hose. The reason for this it would allow me to add a double ended hose fitting and install a spray nozzle on it to be able to use the fill hose as a regular hose. Wash the front of the coach? Spray down the area near the door? Spray water on the soft sand too and last but not least use for fire fighting. On 70 a couple years back a trailer with a blown wheel bearing was igniting the grass along the road. Could have easily put it out rather than suffocating it with boots and dirt.

MJ, I am out of town and not with the coach. Upon my return I will provide you with some info. It is pretty straight forward. I did it with PEX piping. A couple of Tees, Elbows, Valves and a Uniseal. I like Scott's idea about having a spray nozzle available to use. If you really want to keep the check valve in the system, you could Tee in on the pressure side of the Check Valve for the spray nozzle.
