The CC and Retarder apparently don't "think" the coach is in motion (while it is being driven) and so neither work. Perhaps it is the Allison Trans or the Cummins Diesel brain. Anyone had this issue? I am asking for a friend who is trying to figure out the next step...No Silverleaf for a 2nd opinion on this coach.

You're asking for a friend.... So is it the 97 U270 in your signature or a different coach? That's going to matter.

Most likely not either trans. or engine ECM, more like they are getting a bad signal. Now I ain't lost my mind but on that age coach it can be a bad anti lock brake sensor on a tag causing this trouble. Remember both of these systems (cruse and retarder) are intertwined so it may need some real troubleshooting and more info as to what is found.
