Has anyone installed this product?
Need more information. What is it? A quick Google came up with many different things. Rec-pro appears to be a brand of RV "things", not a specific item.
I'll bet it's the AC,they sound good, start reading the reviews.
Yes, the air conditioner. I need something to plug and play instead of trying to figure out 23 year old wiring.
[Updated topic title to be more descriptive]
I have two. Houton i think is the brand. They have been great so far. I have wireless controllers for them.
Ldillow, How do you control the Aqua Hot heating for the front and back of the coach?
I installed thermostats for aqua hot.
Front and back.
Love it
Unit arrived yesterday and the local rental shop put it on the roof and removed the old.
This morning I unpacked it. Coming from Australia, this was very well protected vs the penguin I received.
After reading the instructions and a little help from Brenda, the unit is performing well. Quiet, the display on the bottom of the unit can be turned off- which, being in the bedroom is a must.
I let it run for 3 hours, with the penguin running, also. Temps outside are 105, both these lowered the temps to around 78.
I suspect that the temperature will drop once everything gets cooled off. If I knew that this was so easy and straightforward, I would have purchased it instead of the penguin.
I haven't decided if I will replace the middle air- but if I do, it will be Rec-Pro
Ernie, did you get the ducted or unducted model? If ducted, did it work without modification to the duct work? My rear AC is acting up and I'm checking my options.
Mine are ducted.
Installed front and back.
Had a condesation leak on the back one that needed more sealing
The rec-pro is ducted. It does have the feature to dump air from the distribution box. Nice and quiet
I was getting very interested in this unit until I saw this note. "Air conditioner performance may diminish while driving at highway speeds, up to and including Error Code E5. If problem persists, reduce vehicle speed." Has anyone had any experience with this unit while driving? If they don't work or won't work well going down the road that's a deal killer for me.
I have no issues driving while they are on
A better explanation from the Rec Pro ad on Amazon. " Unit is NOT intended for use while driving. Operation during high speeds exceeding 55 mph may obstruct or prevent efficient heat exhaustion from the fan, leading to unit malfunction or temporary E5 Fault Mode. E5 Fault Mode should automatically reset upon reducing driving speed."
I bought mine from rec-pro and didn't see anything written anywhere. With so much wind turbulence, I don't think this is an issue to be concerned about. [Unnecessary comment removed - moderator Michelle]
So what's the latest update on rec pros ? They trouble free ?
Also, if I kept my current dometic thermostat and preserved the wiring in the air box could I run the AH from the dometic stat ?
I'm looking at furrions but my wife says we should get the quietest we can find. She says I can't hear her over the noise
After almost a year of service. I have no complaints. Unit performance is as advertised. In fact since I cannot get my middle air- original Dometic to come on even with a new thermostat, I am going to add another Houghton in its place. Remote thermostat works well. I'm done with Dometic products.
To clarify, the remote control has temperature sensors so that it functions as a wall mounted thermostat. Thus, if you moved it from living room to bedroom it would sense the temperature in whatever room it's located?
That would greatly simplify retrofit with my four button thermostats.
Did you have to specify the brand of ducted ac you were replacing?
Thanks! I'm keeping my original units running for now but looking ahead.
I could be wrong, i think the thermostats are in the unit.
So i set 70 to get 72 in the room. Up to 74 if it is really hot out.
It is the one flaw to these.
