Has anyone here from California bought a peeling decals etc. FT? Where did you go to get it all removed and then detailed? Los Angeles area? All recommendations appreciated!
Can't answer you as to where to do it as I did ours at home. It was a 97 40 ft U-320. Took a few weeks but turned out great!
Thank you. Can you share how you did that and did you have it detailed after?
Using a heat gun they come off easily.
I will do my best as it's been 12 plus years since we had that coach.
I used some plastic scrapers (putty knives) and a heat gun and took my time in the removal of the decals. Once it was all done I bought an orbital sander/polisher by Porter Cable and extra pads plus some bottles of 3M cutting/polishing compound and went to work. I actually did the roof first then just started at the front and worked my way around the coach till I had it all done. Then I did it all again (except the roof) with another 3M wax.
The only decals I didn't remove were the thick ones on the bottoms of the bay doors as they were in good shape.
I didn't have it professionally detailed because I pretty much did that myself.
There's some other posts on this subject also.
Thanks much!
I removed almost all the decals on my 95 320. I used the eraser wheel (a bunch of them) and a drill, worked great.
My decals had been removed but the ghosts were still there, I removed them.
Gel Coat Maintenance- Aqua -Buff Compound? (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=45008.msg457004#msg457004)
The decal ghosting bothered me, so I spent a ridiculous number of hours sanding and polishing the whole coach.
600 grit, 800 grit, 1000 grit, then polishing compound and finally gel coat sealer.
There are faster ways to do it, but I'm a bit crazy and the result was worth it.
