Post by: Gndhog2263 on October 07, 2023, 08:57:09 pm
Good evening,
Can someone please tell me where the breaker or fuse is for the large electric awning? I have no power.

Thank you!
David

To help you we need a few details, like year and model of awning and coach. Then hopefully some kind soul will tell you where to look.

Since this is a 2003, if it's a Girard, it's a 120 VAC breaker in a breaker box at the foot of the bed.  Most likely breaker #1 in the smaller breaker panel (the one for the inverted circuits).

ETA - I recall the awning is interlocked to the leveling system.  If you have an excess slope light, it won't operate.  Might also be interlocked to other things like the transmission being in N and the parking brake on.

There is also a current limiter that prevents the motor from operating.  If it's failed, you can manually retract the awning if you have the long hooked tool.  There is also an override that I think is outlined in the Installation manual

Yep, breaker # 1 on inverter panel at end of bed. Same breaker for fridge, sat, tv.  Check and see if those are working.

Upper front cabinet to right of TV, behind the front  panels has the controls for the awning.  If original wiring there are 2 boxes.  One is a current limiter that is a known failure item.  You can bypass it to see if that is the failure point. Bypass by combining the wires bypassing the electronics.  Turn off the breaker before messing with those wires.

You can call Girard if need be.

They plan to move about 20-30 miles further south. May or may not have occurred by now.

Mine is problematic too.  Sometimes works in and out, sometimes only goes out and won't come back in.  I've been told Girard will update you to new electronics/controller for around $1500.  For now, I use this:  Girard awning not going in or out? Here's a solution (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=42272)
