My generator shutdown with a over heat alarm-- it is full of antifreeze--fan belt is on generator/water pump electric fan in side door is working Can anyone tell me where the heat sensor is located and what it looks like! Also, once the problem is solves how do you reset the fault?
Thanks All
Chris
Another mechanical thing that can cause overheating is a sticking thermostat. Is it original (i.e. 24 years old)?
If you have an IR gun you can confirm actual overheating VS sensor issue.
You reset the fault on the grey box that is above the fan.
Chris,
Which power unit do you have? Isuzu or Kubota as location will be different.

Mike I have the isuzu gen.
Brett, after it cooled down (Overnight) I started it and it only ran for about 2 minuted But as you say 22 yr old probably needs changing!!
Chris
Chris,
On ours the probe is rite beside the thermostat housing on the top of the head. Yours may be different as I have seen them on the head between the cylinders on the back side of the engine also.

2 years ago I had the same issue and found my radiator in the remote location , it sits in front of the left front wheel in the side door where you pull the latch to open your generator door in the front! The radiator was completely plugged with dirt and the material from the deteriorating insulation in the generator compartment. Removed it and cleaned it by running water through the tubes and fins on the outside, had it pressure tested for leaks and replaced it. Been fine eversince.
