I've searched for information regarding the front wheel cut for the U320 and Nimbus. Is there a discussion about this on the forum? Thanks.
Doing a quick forum search for Nimbus IFS, it looks like the Nimbus would have the same solid front axle as the U320* unless ordered as an option starting in 2009. The factory never did release wheel cut numbers for any coach nor have I ever seen those numbers published anywhere.
One note, when IFS was introduced in the Phenix, there were complaints about the handling/ride. HWH Active Air was developed to address this issue.
(* in 2001-ish, there were a handful of U320's built with IFS)
Reyco Granning made the IFS in the IH45. The wheel cut on Foretravel frames is 58 degrees. Spartan has 56 degree, not sure what models. I believe that Spartan uses Reyco Granning for the Foretravel K4 front IFS and it now has 60 degrees.
Compared to a Prevost which has 59 degrees
Newell has 60 degree
In reading about the straight axle it is anywhere between 45-50 degrees.
Thank you for the replies. The reason I am asking about wheel cut is I am currently looking for a pre def Foretravel and I'm curious about manuverability. From what I've read Country Coach's wheel cut is around 55 degrees along with Freightliner and Spartan.
I would much rather have less wheel cut than all of the alternatives you mentioned.
My numbers suggest 38 degree wheel cut on beam axle coaches, and "most" IFS coaches at 55 degrees.
