Title: Silverleaf/ Coach Engine Data not showing
Post by: "Irish" on November 08, 2023, 07:38:59 am
I have two issues:
1) Looking at Silverleaf there is no data for engine oil temperature, should I assume a sender unit failure?
2) Two years ago total milage driven was showing as an error on the dash, I replaced the dash gauge (before getting Silverleaf) and it worked for 3000 miles) when it failed again the milage was still visible in Silverleaf until last week. Now there  is no showing on Silverleaf. Where does this info come from, the engine ECU or a sender unit somewhere?
If you have any ideas it would be a big help.

Your unit might be unplugged

No, it's definitely plugged in, everything else on Silverleaf works, thanks

For the oil pressure I would check the oil pressure sender. The total mileage I think would be
stored in a ECU but which one the engine or transmission? The information would come from
the transmission sender.

Are you seeing engine hours?

Just checked: no hours showing on the Silverleaf

Then engine hours and mileage is stored in the engine ECM. Is the other engine information working? Like coolant temp, RPM, Oil Pressure?

Is everything running right? Shifting right?

The data from the engine ECM is all CAN based, if the connection is good you get all the data, it won't just stop sending some of it. If the engine and transmission are still able to communicate and the transmission shifts fine, then it could just be the wiring to the diagnostic port. Hours and mileage should be on request, meaning that some device on the network needs to request the message. I don't know if the silverleaf is setup to request it, or if they just assume that the speedometer gauge is going to request it and the silverleaf just reads the data from the message. If the gauge was doing the requesting and the gauge is failed or has a wiring problem, then that could explain why it's not showing up on the silverleaf.

Have you seen Oil temperature before? and what value is currently reporting?
